Job Overview: The Analyst, Policy position is integral to the Regional Policy and Strategy (RPS) team at the EBRD, focusing on Central Asia and Mongolia. The role involves delivering the Bank's transition mandate by engaging in various priority policy and thematic areas. The Analyst is expected to work flexibly across all areas of focus, contributing to a coherent and holistic policy agenda. This includes supporting the development and implementation of policy dialogue workstreams in critical areas such as green transition, economic governance, and digitalization. The Analyst will also be involved in preparing country diagnostics and strategies, conducting economic and political reviews, and supporting the preparation of policy compacts for the region. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and assessing growth and reform progress, as well as collaboration with various teams within the Bank to ensure alignment with the overall policy agenda.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst, Policy will have a diverse range of accountabilities and responsibilities, including:
Supporting the monitoring and assessment of growth and reform progress in Central Asia and Mongolia, contributing to policy dialogue workstreams in areas such as green transition, economic governance, and infrastructure development.
Assisting in the delivery of specific investments and policy projects, participating in management and Board presentations, and preparing comprehensive analytical assessments.
Assessing structural reform progress in the region to provide input into key Bank products, including the Regional Economic Prospects and the annual Transition Report.
Supporting the preparation of country diagnostics and strategies, ensuring that they align with the Bank's objectives.
Conducting background research on sectoral and policy developments, drafting briefings, presentations, and analytical pieces.
Collaborating with the RPL in the preparation of policy compacts for the region, ensuring that they reflect the Bank's strategic priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Analyst, Policy position should possess a strong motivation and commitment to the Bank's transition agenda. They should have relevant education at least at the degree level in fields such as economics, development policy, or environmental sciences, or possess comparable professional experience. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in project management and working within multi-disciplinary teams, particularly in emerging markets and transition economies. Familiarity with finance and investment decision-making processes, as well as knowledge of priority policy areas, is essential. Strong communication skills are required to convey complex policy and technical issues effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders.
