Job Overview: The Project Support and Research Officer position is designed to provide comprehensive support in the areas of project management, stakeholder engagement, and case management related to labor mobility and social inclusion initiatives. The role involves collecting and analyzing data, preparing advocacy materials, and engaging with local partners to foster understanding and support for migration-related issues. The officer will also be responsible for managing case files and ensuring effective services for beneficiaries, which includes logistical support for their travel and integration. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring trends in migration and social inclusion, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including government counterparts and NGOs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in raising awareness and facilitating collaboration among different entities involved in migration and social inclusion efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect, compile, and analyze data and information to assess policies and operational information related to labor mobility and social inclusion.
Support stakeholder engagement by distributing timely and accurate information to government counterparts and local partners.
Prepare advocacy materials, presentations, and reports to raise awareness among stakeholders.
Engage with local partners to promote positive narratives about labor mobility.
Monitor current issues and trends in migration, providing updates and recommendations to the Programme Manager.
Conduct case management activities, including interviews and file management for beneficiaries.
Support case data management activities, ensuring accurate tracking and filing of case files.
Assist with logistics for beneficiaries' travel, including transportation and documentation.
Liaise with other teams and units as needed, providing regular reports on progress. 1
Undertake duty travel for casework interviews and support activities. 1
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Programme Manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of English and demonstrate excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to work independently under pressure. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and driven to achieve objectives, with a commitment to the values and principles of IOM.
Educational Background: A completed secondary education is required for this position. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be preferred, particularly those with relevant coursework or training in migration studies, social sciences, or related fields.
Experience: The position requires five years of working experience for candidates with secondary education, or three years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in project support, case management, or related fields is highly desirable, along with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Languages: Fluency in English and Japanese is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as Tagalog, Thai, or Spanish is considered an advantage, as IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Japan will be considered.
