Job Posting Organization:
The internship is offered by the Social Development Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). ESCAP was established in 1947 and is one of the regional commissions of the United Nations. Its mission is to promote inclusive and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. Job Overview:
The internship position is within the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Section (GESIS) of the Social Development Division. The primary focus of this internship is to support ESCAP's work on Disability Inclusion. Interns will engage in various tasks that align with their academic background and professional interests, particularly in the areas of gender equality and disability inclusion. The role is designed to provide interns with hands-on experience in research, data analysis, and project support related to disability inclusion. Interns will work closely with staff members and contribute to the preparation of written outputs, assist in organizing meetings, and support the implementation of technical cooperation projects. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for conducting research and data analysis on critical areas related to disability inclusion, such as economic participation, inclusive employment, digital inclusion, and accessibility. They will assist in organizing and convening meetings, contributing to the preparation of background papers, speeches, and presentations. Interns will provide substantive and administrative support for technical cooperation projects focused on disability-inclusive employment and business, as well as digital inclusion initiatives. Additionally, they will support the implementation of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Section. The internship requires a commitment of five days per week, totaling 37.5 hours, and can be performed either onsite in Bangkok or remotely.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interns must be computer literate in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of different opinions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Candidates with academic backgrounds related to social sciences, disability studies, or gender studies are particularly encouraged to apply, as these areas align closely with the work of the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Section.

Experience:
No prior working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, experience in areas such as disability studies, research, writing, and organizing meetings would be considered an asset.
