Job Overview: The Capacity Development Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the CIMMYT Academy team and its initiatives focused on knowledge-sharing and capacity-building. This position requires a dynamic and self-driven professional who can effectively oversee the development and implementation of educational solutions that align with CIMMYT's mission. The manager will collaborate with various research programs and regional offices to ensure that the Academy's offerings are well-coordinated and impactful. The role involves designing technical solutions, improving learning curricula, and managing training programs for students and scientists. The manager will also be responsible for monitoring the quality of the Academy's content and ensuring it meets established standards, thereby contributing to long-term capacity development goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Capacity Development Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: leading the development and implementation of effective knowledge-sharing and capacity development solutions; collaborating with research programs and regional offices to coordinate CIMMYT Academy's programs; designing and implementing technical solutions to support research programs; developing educational solutions and improving learning curricula; managing the Student Training Program, including onboarding and offboarding processes; ensuring the quality of CIMMYT Academy's content and delivery; documenting processes and generating reports based on key performance indicators; managing partnerships with universities and developing learning programs; monitoring the impact of capacity development services; establishing and managing fundraising and communication strategies; and overseeing budget management and resource generation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in Education or a related field, with a strong preference for those with relevant experience in capacity development and knowledge-sharing. A minimum of 10 years of experience in education, capacity development, agricultural extension, or related fields is required. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in capacity development theories and methodologies, as well as experience in organizing formal and informal training programs. Additionally, candidates must exhibit competencies such as critical thinking, teamwork, client orientation, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a master's degree in Education or a closely related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of capacity development and knowledge-sharing in agricultural contexts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in fields such as education, capacity development, knowledge-sharing, and agricultural extension. Candidates should have a proven track record of applying capacity development methodologies effectively and organizing training programs that enhance skills and knowledge.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with candidates required to demonstrate a minimum of C1 level on the CEFR scale. This proficiency will be tested during the selection process. While English is essential, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse international partners.
Additional Notes: CIMMYT offers a competitive remuneration package that includes benefits in accordance with Mexican Labor Law. The benefits package features a year-end bonus equivalent to 40 days of salary, a vacation premium of 56%, life and medical insurance, supermarket coupons, and a savings fund. Employees also receive social benefits as per Mexican regulations (IMSS, SAR / Infonavit). The position is based at CIMMYT's headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City, and is expected to be full-time.
