MSF International serves as the legal entity that unites MSF's 24 sections, 27 associations, and 18 branch offices, providing coordination, information, and support to the MSF Movement. The organization is registered in Switzerland and implements international projects and initiatives as requested. The MSF Access team focuses on improving the accessibility, availability, affordability, appropriateness, and quality of healthcare products for the populations it assists. This team plays a central role in identifying and implementing priority access projects and offers expert support for access activities across MSF. The MSF Access team is based in five regional hubs: Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, Brussels, Dakar, and Rio de Janeiro.

Job Overview:
The Regional Advisor for Eastern and Southern Africa will report to the Regional Coordinator and work closely with the MSF Access Head of Policy and Head of Analysis. This role is crucial for enhancing the understanding of regional contexts and expanding key networks and stakeholder engagement. The advisor will support the design and implementation of effective advocacy strategies directed at governments, non-governmental stakeholders, pharmaceutical companies, and the research community in Africa, aligning with the Access strategic objectives both regionally and globally. The position requires a flexible approach as the job description may evolve according to the finalized MSF Access Strategic Plan, but the core responsibilities will remain focused on advocacy and access issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Advisor will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: developing systems to monitor and analyze policies and stakeholders relevant to MSF Access strategic objectives; analyzing regional trends and opportunities to provide strategic advice; collaborating with MSF Access colleagues to design and implement advocacy strategies; contributing to the development of regional analysis and advocacy strategies; engaging with key stakeholders in the region; representing MSF Access in relevant platforms; acting as a spokesperson for the Nairobi hub; supporting MSF Operations in understanding medical-political issues affecting access; and managing short-term researchers or consultants on special projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of advocacy strategies. They should have experience in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement, particularly in the healthcare sector. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities is essential. Familiarity with the healthcare landscape in Eastern and Southern Africa is highly desirable, along with a commitment to MSF's humanitarian principles and values.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in public health, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in advocacy, public policy, or healthcare access will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or a related field, preferably within the healthcare or humanitarian sectors. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly valued, as is familiarity with the political and social dynamics of Eastern and Southern Africa.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French or other regional languages is considered a strong asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in both written and spoken formats.
