Job Overview: The Administrative Clerk position is crucial for the effective functioning of the UNFPA Sudan Country Office, providing essential support to both Programme and Operations teams. The role involves ensuring the proper functioning, servicing, and repair of electrical systems and generators at the facility. The Administrative Clerk will report directly to the analyst" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Administrative Analyst and work closely with the International Operations Manager. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring that all electrical installations and equipment are safe and operational. The Administrative Clerk will also be responsible for conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining records of maintenance activities. This role is vital for supporting the overall mission of UNFPA in Sudan, contributing to the organization's efforts to improve health outcomes and promote gender equality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Administrative Clerk will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Electrical Maintenance: Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical installations such as lighting, wiring, switches, and sockets. Diagnosing and fixing minor electrical faults in buildings and outdoor facilities, replacing or repairing defective electrical components, and ensuring compliance with safety standards during all electrical work.
Generator Repair and Maintenance: Conducting routine servicing of generators, including oil changes, air/fuel filter replacements, and battery checks. Troubleshooting generator malfunctions and performing corrective actions, monitoring generator performance and fuel levels, and keeping records of generator usage, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment, responding promptly to maintenance requests or reported faults, assisting in the installation or relocation of electrical appliances/equipment, and ensuring safe working conditions while reporting hazards or major faults to the supervisor.
Tool and Equipment Management: Using appropriate tools for maintenance tasks and keeping them in good condition, monitoring and managing inventory of electrical supplies and spare parts, and ensuring proper storage and safekeeping of maintenance tools and materials.
Additional Duties: Carrying out any other duties as may be requested by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess completed Secondary Level Education as a minimum requirement. Additionally, a technical certificate in Electrical Installation, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates should have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical and generator maintenance, with a basic understanding of generator types (diesel/petrol), operation, and safety standards. The ability to interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams is essential, and experience with UN systems, particularly UNFPA, is considered an advantage. Strong practical skills in electrical troubleshooting and generator maintenance, along with a good understanding of safety procedures and hazard prevention, are necessary for this role. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, possess effective time management skills, and have the physical fitness to work in outdoor or confined environments.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completed Secondary Level Education, which serves as the foundational requirement.
