Job Overview: The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Office and in consultation with Programme Officers and relevant Project Staff. The primary responsibility will be to develop a focused communication strategy that elevates migrant rights in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of these rights in the migration policy development process. The consultant will prioritize the (re)integration and protection of migrants, refugees, and returnees, ensuring that human rights and well-being are at the forefront of all initiatives. This role involves drafting digital content for social media and the IOM Armenia website, coordinating public awareness campaigns, and preparing reports for donors. The consultant will also be responsible for translating social media posts and other materials between Armenian and English, ensuring that all communications adhere to IOM's branding policy and donor visibility guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include developing a comprehensive communication strategy with measurable results and a budget, leading the drafting of digital content for social media and the website, maximizing the visibility of IOM Armenia's social media platforms, coordinating public awareness campaigns, preparing donor reports, gathering and disseminating public information on migrant rights, translating social media posts, drafting human interest stories, ensuring compliance with IOM branding policies, organizing public events, and monitoring partner institutions' social media pages. The consultant will also be responsible for submitting monthly communication updates to the Head of Office and assisting with other communications-related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Communication Arts, Development Studies, Behavioral Sciences, International Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Proven knowledge in media and communications is essential, as well as excellent writing skills in various styles and tones, particularly in Armenian and English. Strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and an understanding of new technologies and digital platforms are also required. Knowledge of donor reporting guidelines is a plus, and experience in development or humanitarian environments is desirable.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Communication Arts, Development Studies, Behavioral Sciences, International Studies, or a related discipline is required. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution, and candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience in communications or related fields.
Experience: Candidates should have a proven track record in media and communications, with experience in drafting content for various platforms. They should demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Experience in a development or humanitarian context is desirable, as is familiarity with donor reporting guidelines. The consultant should also have a strong understanding of digital platforms and technologies, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Languages: Fluency in Armenian and English is required, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Russian is desirable, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position may require travel, and any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the relevant government. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational incidents. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and must provide proof of coverage before starting work.
