Job Posting Organization:
The Digital Enablement Team (DET) is part of the United Nations, specifically within the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Digital Enablement Team (DET) is designed to support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives in UN Peacekeeping. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the development and evaluation of digital solutions aimed at addressing peacekeeping challenges. The role requires a commitment to working full-time, with a hybrid model that includes both in-person and remote work. Interns will be expected to conduct research, analyze data, draft reports, and assist in organizing workshops and consultations. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment focused on innovation and technology in peacekeeping operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intern’s duties will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including: assisting in the identification and development of digital transformation initiatives; conducting background research on peacekeeping challenges and digital solutions; synthesizing findings into actionable insights; designing and conducting surveys and consultations; analyzing and visualizing data; drafting various written outputs such as reports and presentations; maintaining organized records of meetings and project documents; supporting the planning and facilitation of workshops and events; coordinating workstreams and monitoring progress; providing logistical and administrative support; and carrying out additional tasks as required to support the DET’s priorities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates are encouraged to have a broad range of educational backgrounds, particularly in areas such as Strategy Development, Innovation, IT, Engineering, Project Management, or Public Administration. Applicants must demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications, a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. A commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter is essential, as is the ability to be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Educational Background:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree as defined above. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and the work of the United Nations.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should ideally have some exposure to project management, digital transformation, or related fields. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the UN’s mission, and who can demonstrate relevant skills through academic or volunteer experiences.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week (35 hours). Interns will work in a hybrid model, with at least three days in the office in New York and the possibility of part-time or remote work after the initial three months. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months, with a desired start date of September 15 or sooner.
