Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst, Maternal Health plays a crucial role in managing UNFPA's initiatives related to maternal health, cervical cancer, and broader sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). This position involves analyzing trends in maternal health, understanding the sociocultural contexts that affect these trends, and providing substantial input for national maternal health program formulation and evaluation. The Programme Analyst will work closely with government counterparts, NGOs, and other partners to ensure that maternal health programs align with national priorities and UNFPA policies. The role also includes integrating climate action considerations into maternal health programming, thereby addressing the intersection of health and environmental issues. The Programme Analyst is expected to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, ensuring that they are responsive to the needs of the population, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key tasks, including: collaborating with government and NGO partners to design and formulate the maternal health and cervical cancer components of the country program; ensuring the quality of programs by incorporating lessons learned and best practices; analyzing data related to maternal health and cervical cancer; keeping updated on national and international policy developments; coordinating program implementation and supporting proposal development; identifying training needs for implementing partners; documenting lessons learned and sharing best practices; and carrying out any additional programmatic tasks assigned by the Chief of Health. This role requires a proactive approach to building relationships with stakeholders and facilitating the timely delivery of results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in public health or a related social science field. They should have at least two years of professional experience in development and population activities, with a focus on maternal health and/or SRHR. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience working on climate change issues related to SRHR and cervical cancer prevention at the national level. Experience in compiling and analyzing program data for reporting purposes is essential, as is prior research experience in non-communicable diseases. Familiarity with UN operations and a solid understanding of maternal health issues in Bangladesh are also required. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively present UNFPA's work to diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in public health or a related field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in health systems, population studies, and social sciences, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge to address complex health issues.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in development and population activities, specifically in the areas of maternal health and sexual and reproductive health and rights. At least one year of experience working on climate change and its implications for SRHR and cervical cancer is also required. Experience in data analysis and program evaluation is crucial, as is familiarity with the UN system and its operations in Bangladesh.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of another UN language would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a multicultural environment.
