Job Overview:
The Investment Officer position is a critical role within the dynamic MAS Europe team based in Belgrade, Serbia. The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities, conducting thorough financial and investment analyses, and contributing to the structuring and execution of transactions. This role requires strong investment skills and project management capabilities to oversee project milestones and build relationships with clients. The Investment Officer will work across the Western Balkans, focusing on sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, health, education, tourism, retail, and property. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable private sector investments that aim to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life in emerging markets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including: developing a thorough understanding of relevant sectors, building strong relationships with key counterparts in both private and public sectors, identifying potential investment partners and opportunities, assessing the attractiveness of specific investment opportunities with a focus on credit quality and development impact, executing loan, equity, and mezzanine financing, conducting due diligence, structuring deals, negotiating terms, and managing portfolios across various MAS sectors. The officer will also work closely with IFC specialists to manage environmental, social, technical, legal, insurance, corporate governance, and other project risks. Additionally, the role involves supporting client adherence to investment terms, generating supervision reports, detecting early risks, and strategizing for resolutions or restructurings as needed. Providing high-quality client service throughout the project cycle and supervising the quality of portfolio reporting information prepared by junior staff are also key responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5-6 years of work experience in a major commercial or investment bank with a significant presence in emerging markets, an international financial institution, or a private equity firm. They should have experience in investment transactions, with a proven track record in developing client relationships, sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and closing quality investments, as well as managing complex portfolio assets. Familiarity with emerging markets and knowledge of international best practices and global trends in the industry are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, equity valuation, and financial modeling skills, along with the ability to oversee and provide quality control feedback on financial models prepared by analysts. Strong client relationship skills and the ability to monitor milestones and deliverables independently are also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is essential for this position. Candidates should ideally hold a degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or a master's degree in finance or economics are preferred, as they provide a deeper understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically at least 5-6 years in roles related to investment banking, private equity, or financial analysis within emerging markets. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing investment transactions and client relationships, as well as experience in sourcing, negotiating, and structuring investments across various financial products.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates who are fluent in additional languages will have a competitive advantage, as this can enhance client engagement and relationship-building efforts.
