Job Overview:
The Investigations Analyst (JPO) position is designed for young professionals who are interested in pursuing a career in the multilateral development sector. The role involves supporting the Investigations Section of the Office of Audit and Investigations (OAI) at UNDP, specifically focusing on misconduct investigations related to fraud, corruption, sexual misconduct, and other violations of UNDP policies. The JPO will work under the supervision of experienced UNDP staff, receiving structured guidance and feedback to enhance their professional development. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investigations Analyst will be responsible for reviewing complaints of misconduct, conducting analytical and research activities, assisting in investigations, and preparing various documentation related to investigations. Specific duties include:
  • Reviewing complaints of misconduct and recommending appropriate actions based on preliminary assessments.
  • Drafting Closure Notes or Assessment Summaries for case closures or investigation assignments.
  • Conducting analytical and research activities to support investigations using internal data and open-source tools.
  • Participating in witness and subject interviews, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Preparing witness interview plans and documenting testimony.
  • Drafting high-quality investigation plans, closure notes, and reports.
  • Maintaining up-to-date records in the Investigations Section’s database and case files.
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in investigations, law, intelligence research, or related fields. Formal professional training in investigation-related areas is advantageous. Experience working within an international investigation office is also a plus. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Additionally, candidates should be open to learning and adapting to new challenges in a dynamic work setting.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Investigations, Management, Finance, Law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the aforementioned fields combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a master's degree, or four years for those with a bachelor's degree. This experience should be in the field of investigations, law enforcement, or related areas. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to conduct investigations and analyze evidence effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Fluency in French is highly desirable, while proficiency in Spanish or Arabic is considered an advantage. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
