Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women involves providing comprehensive programme support for the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). The role requires the analyst to report to the WPHF Programme Specialist and engage in various aspects of project management, including onboarding and contracting, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting. The Programme Analyst is expected to analyze results achieved during project implementation and ensure the appropriate application of systems and procedures. This position requires close collaboration with the programme and operations team to ensure successful implementation of UN Women programmes. The Programme Analyst will contribute to the development of programme strategies, provide technical support to partners, monitor progress, manage finances, and facilitate inter-agency coordination. The role is critical in ensuring that the WPHF project is well-documented and results-oriented, ultimately contributing to the empowerment of women and the achievement of gender equality in Ukraine.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute technically to the development of WPHF programme strategies by providing inputs to project proposals and initiatives.
Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the WPHF programme, including coordinating programme activities, ensuring compliance with RBM principles, and reviewing financial and narrative reports from implementing partners.
Offer technical assistance and capacity development support to project/programme partners, addressing challenges in project implementation and facilitating training sessions.
Monitor and report on programme/project progress, developing monitoring tools and contributing to various reports.
Manage programme finances by monitoring budget implementation and assisting with financial reports.
Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, analyzing information and maintaining databases.
Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination to align UN Women/WPHF programmes with other partners in Ukraine.
Support advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts by coordinating events and developing knowledge management products.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification, such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®, is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, knowledge of Results Based Management, and the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may suffice. A project/programme management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in gender equality, gender-responsive governance, and protection is desirable. Additionally, experience in coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors is also preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable.
