Job Overview:
The Interpretation Support Officer will play a crucial role in facilitating the integration of refugees into the labor market through the project 'Promotion of the integration of the refugee population into the labor market.' This position involves close collaboration with national authorities and aims to develop a stable and effective approach to support beneficiaries through vocational training, Greek language courses, and traineeships. The successful candidate will be responsible for outreach and interpretation activities within accommodation facilities, assisting project teams during field visits, and ensuring effective communication with beneficiaries. The role requires planning and implementing operational plans for interpretation needs, focusing on outreach activities and vocational training processes. The officer will provide interpretation support for traineeship components and vocational training, including written translations of necessary documents, and assist beneficiaries with relevant information and support as needed. Regular visits to accommodation sites will be required to inform beneficiaries about upcoming project events, and the officer will perform other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support outreach and interpretation activities within accommodation facilities in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Assist project teams during field visits, meetings, and communication with beneficiaries.
  • Plan and implement operational plans for interpretation needs in coordination with National Project Coordinators.
  • Provide interpretation support for traineeship components and vocational training, including written translations of documents.
  • Assist beneficiaries with relevant information and support when needed.
  • Provide regular inputs to the Information Management Assistant for project-related data collection regarding interpretation services.
  • Support beneficiaries in communicating with service providers under the traineeship components.
  • Conduct regular visits to accommodation sites to inform beneficiaries of upcoming project events.
  • Perform written translations as required. 1
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in Languages or Social Sciences from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or a high school degree/certificate with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in working in a migration/refugee setting is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerApps, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
  • Experience in handling web-based management systems is beneficial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Languages or Social Sciences from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a high school degree or certificate with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a university degree, or four years for those with a high school diploma. Experience in a migration or refugee setting is advantageous, as is experience working in a multi-cultural environment. Familiarity with computer software and web-based management systems is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Greek (both written and oral) is required. Additionally, fluency in Arabic and Kurmanji (written and oral) is mandatory. Proficiency in Sorani is considered an asset. The selection process will specifically evaluate language proficiency, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government.
