Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position at UNICEF Ghana is designed to support the Social and Behaviour Change team in their efforts to enhance community engagement and feedback mechanisms. The volunteer will play a crucial role in online social listening, particularly in the context of the mpox emergency and the introduction of the HPV vaccine for girls aged 9-1
This role involves tracking community feedback, analyzing data, and producing reports that will inform advocacy and communication strategies. The volunteer will also be responsible for creating engaging social media content aimed at various audiences, including faith leaders, young people, and parents, to raise awareness and address misinformation related to health initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to understanding community needs and effectively communicating vital information to stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the online social listening platform to track feedback related to the mpox emergency and the HPV vaccine introduction.
Analyze collected data and produce weekly reports in PowerPoint format, along with one-page infographic summaries to present findings clearly and effectively.
Develop social media tiles and content tailored for key audiences, including faith leaders, young people, parents, and high-risk groups, to promote awareness and understanding of health initiatives.
Collaborate with the UNICEF team to ensure that communication strategies are aligned with community needs and address any misinformation or disinformation that may arise.
Engage with community members and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback that can inform ongoing health campaigns and initiatives.
Monitor social media channels for relevant discussions and trends that may impact the perception of health initiatives in Ghana.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of social media platforms and online communication strategies.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and produce clear, concise reports.
Creative skills in graphic design and content creation for social media.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Familiarity with public health issues, particularly related to child health and vaccination campaigns, is an asset.
Educational Background: A background in communications, public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or experience that demonstrates their understanding of social behavior change and community engagement strategies.
Experience: Previous experience in social media management, community engagement, or public health communication is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing engaging content and analyzing social media metrics to inform strategies. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in a volunteer capacity is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Ghana would be an advantage, as it would enhance communication with diverse community groups.
