Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will play a crucial role in executing coherent communication strategies in collaboration with UNDP’s Communications Unit. This position is part of the Regional Programme on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 3 (ReLOaD3), which aims to strengthen participatory democracies and support the EU integration process in the region. The intern will be responsible for implementing a Visibility and Communication Plan for Kosovo, promoting visibility guidelines for civil society organizations (CSOs), and preparing various communication materials. The intern will also assist in developing videos and managing social media posts to raise awareness about the ReLOaD3 project. This role requires a proactive approach to communication and a commitment to UNDP's gender-responsive mandate.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the UNDP ReLOaD3 Project Manager, the Communications Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Implement a Visibility and Communication Plan for Kosovo, ensuring alignment with regional knowledge and visibility guidelines.
  • Prepare materials and conduct sessions on visibility for selected municipalities and partner CSOs.
  • Promote and regularly update Visibility and Communication Guidelines for CSOs involved in ReLOaD3 projects.
  • Create visibility materials such as short stories and press releases based on regional models.
  • Support partner CSOs in implementing visibility guidelines by reviewing and approving their proposed materials.
  • Assist in the development of videos showcasing project beneficiaries and results, primarily for social media use.
  • Prepare social media posts to share information about the ReLOaD3 project.
  • Compile a final communication report.
  • Assist with administrative and procurement activities. 1
  • Maintain organized records of CSOs and civic engagement activities. 1
  • Collaborate closely with the Communications Team to fulfill these responsibilities. 1
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Project Manager, adapting to evolving project needs.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (master’s or higher).
  • Be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent.
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. The field of study should be related to Communications, Marketing, International Affairs, Public Policy, Journalism, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a university degree in fields such as Communications, Marketing, International Affairs, Public Policy, Journalism, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of communication principles and practices relevant to the role.

Experience:
Previous experience in communications is considered an asset. Candidates should have experience in social media management and monitoring across platforms such as Facebook, X platform, YouTube, and Instagram. Familiarity with website editing and management tools is also advantageous. Experience in organizing events and conferences, as well as proficiency in office software packages (MS Word, Excel), is beneficial. Knowledge of web-based management systems will be a distinct asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Additionally, fluency in either Albanian or Serbian is also required, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the context of the internship.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position with a duration of six months. Interns are not considered staff members and must adhere to UNDP regulations regarding their status and responsibilities. Interns are responsible for securing their own medical insurance and must provide proof of good health prior to starting the internship. The stipend will be paid monthly, and no other payments will be made to interns. There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship. Applicants must submit a CV, a letter of motivation, a letter from their university confirming enrollment, and a copy of their school transcript. Successful candidates will need to provide a signed UNDP Internship Agreement Form, a Medical Certificate of Good Health, and proof of medical insurance before commencing work.
