Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for Resource Mobilization at UN Women Ethiopia Country Office (ECO) involves developing and implementing a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy to secure sustainable funding for gender equality initiatives in Ethiopia. The consultant will work closely with the Deputy Country Representative and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, focusing on enhancing resource mobilization capacity and strengthening strategic partnerships. The role requires reviewing existing resource mobilization strategies, analyzing the funding environment, and proposing new projects aligned with the strategic priorities of the country program. The consultant will also engage with potential and existing partners to foster relationships and secure funding, while providing technical support in drafting proposals and developing advocacy strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The International Consultant will oversee the development of strategic partnerships, manage relationships with key partners, and provide technical inputs to senior management for developing innovative partnerships. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing partner-specific agreements, advising on advocacy strategies, and implementing differentiated fundraising strategies aligned with country-level activities. The consultant will segment donors based on their interests and giving patterns, develop targeted initiatives to attract additional funding, and identify opportunities for non-core resources. Additionally, the consultant will support the preparation of materials for donor engagements, collaborate with the communications team to promote fundraising efforts, and strengthen internal resource mobilization capacity through training and development of tools.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent in international development studies, gender/women’s studies, economics, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years at the international level involving multi-stakeholder projects and partnership development. Extensive experience in resource mobilization and donor relations is essential, along with proven expertise in gender equality and women's empowerment. Candidates should demonstrate experience in preparing strategic presentations and communication materials for stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree or equivalent in fields related to international development, gender studies, economics, political science, or social sciences. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience, emphasizing the importance of both formal education and practical experience in the field.
Experience: The role demands a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, with a significant portion (at least 3 years) at the international level.
