Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Nutrition Officer (Supplies and Knowledge Management) will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's nutrition programming in the Pacific region. This position involves managing nutrition supplies, ensuring timely distribution, and maintaining accurate records to prevent supply expiration. The officer will also support knowledge management efforts by monitoring results, consolidating reports, and archiving program data. The role emphasizes collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, to enhance nutrition information systems and promote optimal nutrition practices. The officer will engage with youth to foster good nutrition habits and contribute to community volunteerism initiatives, aligning with UNICEF's broader mission of promoting children's rights and well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage nutrition supplies by tracking orders, ensuring timely dispatch, and documenting processes to prevent supply expiration.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health to maintain accurate distribution plans and forecast nutrition supply needs.
• Support monitoring and reporting efforts by liaising with country teams and consolidating data for donor reports.
• Archive progress reports and program data on the Health and Nutrition SharePoint.
• Assist in organizing a nutrition information management system in selected countries.
• Conduct a scoping of social behavior change communication materials to identify gaps and standardize messaging for optimal nutrition.
• Engage and mentor young people in nutrition advocacy and practices.
• Participate in UNV activities and promote volunteerism within the community.
• Contribute to publications and reports on field experiences and volunteer actions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in data management and reporting is essential, along with a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values. The ideal candidate should demonstrate self-awareness, ethical awareness, and the ability to innovate and embrace change. Experience in nutrition programming or related fields is highly desirable, as is familiarity with social behavior change communication strategies.

Educational Background:
A degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in nutrition or public health will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of nutrition issues, particularly in the context of the Pacific region, and be familiar with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in nutrition programming, supply chain management, or knowledge management. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the UN system, is preferred. Familiarity with the Pacific region and its unique challenges related to nutrition and health is advantageous.

Languages:
English is the official working language of Fiji and is required for this position. Knowledge of Fijian, Hindustani, or Rotuman is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.
