Job Overview:
The position of Supervisor de Coordinador de Instalaciones at CIMMYT is designed for a dynamic, autonomous, and service-oriented individual. This consultancy will be based at CIMMYT's headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, which is approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City. The role involves leading projects related to cleaning services and pest control contracted with specialized providers, defining objectives, scopes, activities, requirements, specifications, strategies, and programs based on the needs identified at the Center and external CIMMYT houses. The supervisor will also lead the gardening area to ensure compliance with scheduled services for the proper and timely maintenance of lawns, trees, hedges, and gardens in general. The position requires overseeing the operation of General Services, which includes the habilitation, renovation, and delivery of offices, cubicles, and common areas, as well as the disposal of obsolete furniture and materials. The supervisor will coordinate external service requests for locksmithing and blinds across all buildings at the Center, ensuring that user areas are involved in the scheduling and billing of services such as gardening, with proper accounting reclassification. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for updating project procedure manuals for ISO certification, conducting semi-annual inventories of tools and equipment, managing the delivery and safeguarding of equipment for incoming and outgoing personnel, and supervising the inventories of assigned warehouses to ensure proper use and identify obsolete equipment for disposal, auction, or relocation. The role also involves authorizing the disposal, repair, or use of furniture, materials, and tools in external CIMMYT houses, following the complete procurement process for services, civil works, tools, furniture, and other Facilities and Maintenance requirements, ensuring correct expense classification and allocation of corresponding ICCs in warehouse and purchases, as well as controlling and updating assigned CAPEX or requesting new ones as needed. The supervisor will coordinate the administrative and operational requirements of the team, including technical courses, uniforms, information digitization, incident logs, the OTRS system, updating the INSIDE/Facilities site, vehicle pool management, and gasoline cards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects related to cleaning services and pest control, defining objectives, scopes, activities, requirements, specifications, strategies, and programs based on identified needs.
  • Oversee the gardening area to ensure compliance with scheduled maintenance services for lawns, trees, hedges, and gardens.
  • Manage the operation of General Services, including the habilitation, renovation, and delivery of offices and common areas, and disposal of obsolete furniture and materials.
  • Supervise projects for the supply, installation, and maintenance of furniture and accessories, ensuring compliance with ergonomics and institutional image standards.
  • Coordinate external service requests for locksmithing and blinds across all buildings.
  • Collaborate with user areas for scheduling and billing of gardening services, ensuring proper accounting reclassification.
  • Develop and update project procedure manuals for ISO certification.
  • Conduct semi-annual inventories of tools and equipment, identifying wear, loss, or misuse.
  • Manage the delivery and safeguarding of equipment for new and outgoing personnel. 1

Required Qualifications:
The candidate must possess a higher education degree, ideally in architecture or engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil). A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position is required. Knowledge of English is essential and will be evaluated, with a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework. The candidate must be responsible, organized, and possess a sense of order and cleanliness. They should be dynamic, have good interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively. Compliance with established safety standards is crucial, as the position involves working in areas with electrical installations, presenting a high degree of work risk. The candidate must have problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities, as well as the flexibility to work shifts and occasionally on rest days. Manual dexterity and interpersonal skills are also required. The selected individual should demonstrate competencies in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, customer orientation, and problem-solving.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree is required, with a preference for fields such as architecture or engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil).

Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role is necessary to ensure the candidate has the requisite skills and knowledge to perform effectively in this position.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
