These measures are part of the ICAO Basket of Measures, which includes advancements in aircraft technology and operational improvements. The intern will work closely with senior staff to facilitate the implementation of ICAO tools that support States in prioritizing international aviation CO2 emissions mitigation measures. This role is crucial for supporting the development of sustainable aviation practices and enhancing the organization's capacity to address environmental challenges in the aviation sector.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director, Environment, and other senior staff. Key responsibilities include: facilitating the implementation of ICAO tools for CO2 emissions mitigation; collecting and analyzing data related to environmental benefits from mitigation measures; supporting the development of software tools to automate analyses; assisting in other modelling and analysis tasks as required; preparing outreach materials to communicate results; and performing other related duties as assigned. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree program (second-level university degree or higher) in a relevant field such as aviation, environment, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, or computer science. For applicants from educational systems where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, a minimum of four years of full-time university studies towards a degree is required. The position demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a graduate degree or enrollment in a graduate program in fields related to aviation, environmental science, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, or computer science. Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid, and all costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be covered by the intern. The duration of the internship ranges from three to six months, with the intern expected to work up to five days a week. Flexible arrangements may be available to accommodate part-time schedules for eligible students, in accordance with current off-campus work regulations. Interns are not permitted to engage in any other form of employment within ICAO during the internship period and are ineligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for six months following the end of their internship.
