Job Overview:
The Consultant – Data Management and Analytics position is designed to support the Chief Data Officer (CDO), Data Architect, and Data Analysts in aligning data strategies with the overarching goals of the IAEA. The role involves applying statistical and computational techniques to extract actionable insights from large and complex datasets. The consultant will contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions that are essential for business environments. This position requires a strong understanding of data management principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure that data strategies are effectively aligned with organizational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Chief Data Officer (CDO), Data Architect, and Data Analysts in aligning data strategies with organizational goals. Apply statistical and computational techniques to extract actionable insights from large, complex datasets. Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions in business environments.
  • Work closely with data engineers and architects to define data requirements and ensure comprehensive data accessibility. Assist in applying analytical methods, including machine learning and deep learning algorithms, to identify complex patterns and trends. Participate in data cleaning, statistical analysis, and the creation of visualizations to communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Provide actionable, data-based recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making. Conduct exploratory data analysis, data transformation, and trend identification. Develop predictive models using techniques such as linear/logistic regression, neural networks, decision trees, and experimental design.
  • Collaborate with business departments to support the development of data products tailored to specific operational and strategic needs. Assist in translating business requirements into technical specifications and contribute to the design and prototyping of data-driven applications. Use statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and database querying tools to automate workflows and enhance data accessibility.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Data Lakehouse architecture. Support data modeling, data integration, and data engineering tasks under the guidance of senior team members. Participate in data ingestion, transformation, and quality assurance processes to ensure a unified and efficient data platform.
  • Help interpret and consolidate large volumes of data into clear, actionable insights. Support the CDO in communicating analytical results and their implications to business stakeholders. Contribute to the development and maintenance of data governance frameworks, including: Data Governance Policies, Data Quality Management Standards, Data Analytics Guidelines, Data Cataloging and Lineage Practices, and any other Governance and Compliance Frameworks.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of relevant experience in areas such as Data Management, Information Management, Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Machine Learning (ML).

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Management, Information Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, or Engineering. An advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) is highly desirable and will be considered an asset in the selection process.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least one year of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Management, Information Management, Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Machine Learning (ML). This experience should demonstrate the ability to work with complex datasets and apply analytical techniques effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the IAEA. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those of the IAEA's member states, would be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy position offers a daily fee of up to a maximum of €170, depending on qualifications and experience. If duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be provided. Health coverage and pension fund responsibilities lie with the incumbent. The position is likely to be full-time and may involve collaboration with international teams.
