Job Overview: The Financial Institutions Division (FLI) of IDB Invest works with financial institutions committed to sustainable development and financial inclusion. The division supports the development of climate resilience portfolios, financing for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), financial inclusion, digitalization, social housing, investment in health and education infrastructure, and trade expansion. The Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic Division (RID) is responsible for managing business and client engagement from a country perspective within its member countries. This position involves reporting to the Director of the Delivery Unit, which has a dual-reporting structure to both the Managing Director of FLI and RID. The role requires supporting Team Leaders and project teams in the origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing of high development impact transactions with banks and other financial institutions, ensuring alignment with IDB Invest's operational policies. Additionally, the position involves contributing to financial and risk analysis, participating in due diligence, and preparing project-related documentation as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst/Associate will be responsible for supporting Team Leaders and project teams in various capacities, including:
Assisting in the origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing of high development impact transactions with banks, microfinance, and other non-bank financial institutions.
Supporting project teams throughout the transaction approval process, coordinating with credit risk management, environmental and social safeguards, legal, mobilization, and other internal units.
Contributing to the financial and risk analysis of potential clients and advising on the financial viability of projects.
Participating in due diligence processes and conducting industry research on the financial sector.
Engaging in the negotiation of transaction contracts and related legal documents in collaboration with project teams.
Preparing project-related presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and memos as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, they should possess at least two (2) years of relevant employment experience as a financial analyst/associate or in an equivalent position at a financial institution or consultancy firm. Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required, while additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a plus.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. This foundational education is essential for understanding the financial principles and analytical skills necessary for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two (2) years of relevant employment experience. This experience should ideally be in a financial analyst or associate role, or an equivalent position within a financial institution or consultancy firm. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment, and transaction execution.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English is mandatory for this position, both spoken and written. Additionally, knowledge of French and Portuguese is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This is a national consultant position with a full-time commitment for a duration of 36 months. Candidates must be citizens of El Salvador or possess residency or a legal permit to work in the country.
