Job Overview: The ICT Officer (Digital Workplace Engineer) will play a pivotal role in leading and evolving IOM’s digital workspaces. This position is not merely about maintaining devices; it is about creating secure, seamless digital workspaces that can scale with the organization's growth and empower employees to work from any device, anywhere in the world. The officer will take ownership of the endpoint ecosystem, which includes various operating systems such as Windows and macOS, and will guide the evolution of imaging, lifecycle management, secure access, and collaboration tools. A strong understanding of automation tasks, such as Autopilot provisioning and conditional access with automated remediation, is essential for success in this role. The position also involves strategic responsibilities for enabling secure cloud printing solutions and managing endpoint integration with Azure Files, ensuring seamless access to organizational data from any device. The ICT Officer will be the technical architect and operational lead for the modern end-user experience across a global, hybrid organization, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and working closely with the Senior ICT Officer (Infrastructure security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Engineer).
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Officer (Digital Workplace Engineer) include defining and implementing the device provisioning roadmap, managing cross-platform endpoint estates, configuring and administering Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager, and leading the device lifecycle strategy from onboarding to decommissioning. The officer will also manage and support secure cloud print infrastructure, enforce comprehensive patch management for all platforms, and create and implement endpoint protection and compliance policies. Additionally, the officer will own the strategy and operations for Windows 365, enabling secure, location-independent digital access for all roles, and will track device health, performance, and usage via Endpoint Analytics and Intune reports. Collaboration with various teams to create a seamless digital workplace and providing input for endpoint license entitlements are also key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution with five years of relevant professional experience, or a University degree in the same fields with seven years of relevant experience. Required certifications include Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, and Microsoft Certified: Office 365 Fundamentals. Candidates must also attain and maintain Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) version 4 Foundation certification. Additional certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect and Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) are advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, or a University degree in the same fields with additional years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in the design and implementation of Digital Workplace solutions is required, along with at least two years of experience deploying and managing automation technologies such as Windows CoPilot. Candidates should have excellent hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, particularly Azure AD, Intune, and Defender for Cloud, as well as experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10 and 1
Proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting, patch management strategies, and understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS) architectures is also necessary.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of an official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage. IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is Special Short term ungraded, with an initial duration of up to 9 months. The position is classified as professional, and candidates who are nationals of the duty station's country cannot be considered eligible.
