Job Overview: The position of Auxiliar de Programas Fondo de Adaptación is crucial for the successful implementation of the Adaptation Fund project aimed at enhancing the adaptive capacities of vulnerable communities in the Goascorán watershed in El Salvador and Honduras. The role involves providing technical support and monitoring the execution of planned activities in collaboration with implementing partners. The Auxiliar will facilitate coordination with local communities, verify the execution of workshops and activities, and ensure adherence to established timelines and reporting requirements. This position requires a proactive approach to support field activities and ensure that the project objectives are met effectively. The Auxiliar will work closely with various stakeholders, including local communities, government institutions, and NGOs, to foster collaboration and achieve common goals in the context of climate change adaptation and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Auxiliar de Programas Fondo de Adaptación include:
Monitoring field activities executed under the two components of the project, providing support to implementing partners.
Verifying the achievement of objectives for workshops, meetings, and other events organized by partners.
Providing technical follow-up on the application of community-based adaptation practices, such as sustainableagriculture, water management, and ecosystem restoration, tailored to the specific needs of target communities.
Assisting program assistants in monitoring the progress of activities, ensuring they are executed effectively according to the project work plan and budget.
Tracking indicators to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of community practices related to the project components.
Facilitating relationships between implementing partners and project beneficiaries.
Collaborating with other project team members and stakeholders to ensure the integration of activities and cross-cutting issues.
Preparing regular progress reports, technical summaries, and other required documentation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in field monitoring of climate change adaptation projects, watershed management, and climate risk management. They should have knowledge of methodologies for monitoring and supporting partners in field activity implementation. Experience working with local communities, government institutions, and NGOs is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. The ability to lead and guide partners towards achieving project goals is also necessary.
Educational Background: A minimum educational qualification of a university degree in environmental sciences, climate change, natural resource management, agronomy, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the project's objectives and activities.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of relevant professional experience in field monitoring of climate change adaptation projects, watershed management, and climate risk management. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of the challenges and methodologies associated with these areas, as well as experience in working collaboratively with various stakeholders, including local communities and governmental organizations.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, given the local context of the project. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders. Additional language skills relevant to the local communities may also be beneficial.
Additional Notes: The position is based in San Salvador, with frequent travel to the Goascorán watershed area where the project is being implemented. The contract will initially be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
