Job Overview: The Programme Policy Officer (Gestionnaire de l'information) position is crucial for the effective management and analysis of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security data within the WFP's Food Security Cluster. The role involves overseeing the 5W database, which tracks who is doing what, where, when, and how in terms of food security interventions. The officer will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to food security, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring that information is effectively communicated to partners. This position requires a proactive approach to gather necessary information from other clusters and organizations, as well as the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights. The officer will also play a key role in training partners on information management and food security analysis, contributing to the overall effectiveness of humanitarian responses in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Policy Officer include: managing and improving the 5W database; collecting and analyzing primary and secondary data on food security; developing information management products such as maps and dashboards; coordinating with other clusters and organizations to gather relevant information; organizing coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">cluster coordination meetings; supporting the development of information management strategies; conducting sectoral and multi-sectoral assessments; liaising with OCHA and other clusters; maintaining a directory of food security partners; and responding to information requests from regional clusters and partners. The officer will also be responsible for ensuring the integration of food security responses across sectors and for promoting effective communication and information sharing among stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in fields such as food security, statistics, data science, economics, agriculture, environmental sciences, health/nutrition, social sciences, or a related area. A Bachelor's degree with additional relevant experience may also be considered. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience in data management, and a solid understanding of food security issues. Familiarity with information management tools and software is essential, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats. Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in relevant disciplines is required, with a focus on areas such as food security, statistics, data science, economics, agriculture, environmental sciences, health/nutrition, or social sciences. A Bachelor's degree with significant professional experience may also be acceptable. The educational background should provide a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of food security and humanitarian assistance.
Experience: Candidates should have between 3 to 5 years of professional experience in data coordination, analysis, or monitoring and evaluation, preferably within UN agencies, NGOs, government, or the private sector. Experience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or similar contexts is highly recommended. The candidate should have practical expertise in food security analysis and mapping, as well as experience in conducting assessments and managing information systems.
Languages: Fluency in French (spoken and written, Level C) is mandatory, along with proficiency in English (spoken and written, Level B). Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in diverse environments.
Additional Notes: The position is a service contract (SC8) and is based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The duration of the contract is to be determined. The role is full-time and involves collaboration with various stakeholders in the humanitarian sector.
