Job Posting Organization:
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to drinking water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The organization collaborates with the National Directorate of Potable Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) and has been instrumental in the fight against cholera in Haiti from 2010 to 2019 and against COVID-1
  • Since the resurgence of cholera in October 2022, SI has mobilized to ensure a rapid response to cholera alerts in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP). SI also engages in food security activities and disaster risk reduction (DRR), supporting communities in developing contingency plans and conducting disaster preparedness exercises.

Job Overview:
The position of Missions involves overseeing the implementation of activities related to the ECHO project and the CDCS. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining relationships with project partners and ensuring the quality and execution of activities. Specific objectives include strengthening the potable water supply system through the construction and rehabilitation of water kiosks, extending networks for kiosk connections, and developing water points in vulnerable areas. The role requires close collaboration with state structures responsible for water management and the development of social engineering tailored to resilience activities. The position also involves enhancing collaboration with local authorities and governance structures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the position include:
  • Implementing and overseeing the activities of the ECHO project and CDCS, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
  • Proposing adjustments or developments to ensure the relevance of activities.
  • Strengthening the potable water supply system through construction and rehabilitation of water kiosks and points.
  • Collaborating with local authorities and state structures to develop and implement social engineering strategies.
  • Conducting evaluations and capitalizing on experiences to inform future project proposals.
  • Recruiting and managing the GRE team.
  • Addressing specific challenges related to security and resource procurement.
  • Planning and coordinating with local authorities and communities for infrastructure development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree (Master's or equivalent) in a field related to project management. They should have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a requirement for prior experience in a similar role. Technical skills in project proposal writing and knowledge of humanitarian donors are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical abilities, proactivity, and a solution-oriented mindset.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree (Master's level or equivalent) in project management or a related field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively manage humanitarian projects and engage with various stakeholders.

Experience:
The position requires 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a specific emphasis on prior experience in a similar role. This experience should include hands-on involvement in project management, particularly in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, as well as collaboration with local authorities and community engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the preparation of project documentation and reports.

  • The role is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where the security situation is categorized as Level 4, indicating a volatile environment due to gang presence. Strict security rules are in place, including a curfew at 7 PM and restrictions on movement. The salary is competitive, starting at EUR 2310 gross per month, plus a monthly per diem of USD 75
  • Additional benefits include coverage for housing, travel expenses, and comprehensive health insurance. The living conditions are provided in a secure guest house with individual rooms, and the office is located in a residential area.
