Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Supervisor position is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of UNRWA personnel and facilities in the designated area of operation. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Area Office (CAO) and will receive technical guidance from the National Security Officer at the Field Security and Risk Management Office (FSRM). This role involves direct supervision of guard forces services at the Area Office and associated facilities. The Security Supervisor will assist in the development and implementation of security risk management processes and security plans, ensuring compliance with established security policies and procedures. The position requires a proactive approach to managing security access control, conducting security assessments, and providing training and briefings to personnel. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with local authorities and monitoring the local security situation to provide timely updates to the CAO and National Security Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Security Supervisor include:

• Assisting the Chief of Area Office in developing and implementing the Security Risk Management process and Security Plan, along with other routine security documents such as contingency and evacuation plans.
• Implementing established security policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance by personnel and operations.
• Managing security access control procedures and conducting periodic assessments of premises to ensure effective guard force provisions.
• Preparing and providing security briefings and training for all personnel in the designated area.
• Advising on the acquisition and inventory control of security-related equipment.
• Responding to security incidents and ensuring timely completion of Security Incident Reports.
• Advising personnel on their security-related responsibilities.
• Collaborating with local authorities and monitoring the local security situation, providing regular updates on emerging security issues.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first university degree from an accredited institution in fields such as security and risk management, political or social science, criminal justice, international relations, or business management. Additionally, candidates should have a good command of spoken and written English and Arabic. Experience in security, disaster, or emergency settings with security responsibilities in either the public or private sector is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate competencies in planning and organizing, networking, adapting to change, applying technical expertise, and coping with pressure.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first university degree from an accredited educational institution in relevant fields such as security and risk management, political or social science, criminal justice, international relations, or business management. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of security management and risk assessment in a challenging environment.

Experience:
Candidates are required to have at least two years of responsible and relevant work experience in security, disaster, or emergency settings. This experience should include security responsibilities in either the public or private sector, such as in a corporate environment. The role demands a solid understanding of security protocols and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents.

Languages:
A good command of spoken and written English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders, particularly in a multilingual environment such as that of UNRWA.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Fixed Term Appointment for a duration of three years, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The grade for this position is Grade 12, with a monthly basic salary of USD 1,259.40, payable in Jordanian Dinar at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a Provident Fund contribution, dependency allowances, 30 days of annual leave, compulsory medical insurance, sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave. It is important to note that this vacancy is open only to internal candidates residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem, and the Agency will not facilitate work permits. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates who assist in achieving gender parity. A roster may be created from this selection exercise for future appointments.
