Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for providing day-to-day project management and coordination support to the Nutrition, HIV, and School-Based Programmes. This includes ensuring compliance with WFP standards, developing communication and knowledge products, preparing project briefs and proposals, and tracking project timelines and deliverables. The intern will also contribute to documentation efforts, including reports and presentations, and support partnership management and administrative tasks. Additionally, the intern will enhance knowledge management by maintaining the team's repository and liaising with other units to ensure effective collaboration and timely delivery of activities. Other tasks may be assigned as needed, and the intern is expected to deliver high-quality outputs throughout the internship.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate (Master's) program or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or postgraduate program within six months prior to application. The preferred fields of study include Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies, International Development, Social Sciences, or other relevant degrees. Knowledge of project management tools is advantageous, as is experience working with government, NGOs, civil society organizations, academia, or the United Nations. Experience in developing communication materials and conducting literature reviews is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in a Master's program or having graduated from an undergraduate or postgraduate program within the last six months. Candidates should have attended classes in the last 12 months of their enrollment. Relevant fields of study include Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies, International Development, and Social Sciences, among others.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 6 months to 2 years of experience in project management, coordination, or related fields. Experience working with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and international organizations, is preferred. Familiarity with project management tools and experience in developing communication materials will be considered an advantage. The ability to work independently and coordinate inputs from diverse actors is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Swahili is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with a broader range of stakeholders and communities served by WFP.
