Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will operate under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Turkey and the direct supervision of the National Program Officer (Compliance). This role involves leading and coordinating the implementation of the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) case management project. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring project activities to ensure they align with established plans, analyzing implementation challenges, and making recommendations for adjustments as necessary. The role also includes researching and compiling data on relevant national, regional, and international developments, as well as monitoring budget expenditures and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The Project Coordinator will also conduct capacity-building workshops and maintain effective communication with various stakeholders, including local authorities and partner organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the implementation of the AVRR case management project, ensuring adherence to established plans and timelines.
Monitor project activities and analyze any implementation difficulties, providing recommendations for adjustments.
Research and compile relevant information on migration-related developments, legislation, and reports.
Monitor budget expenditures, verify fund availability, and maintain accurate records of project budgets.
Coordinate financial, administrative, and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies.
Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in meetings and conferences, liaising with local authorities, partners, and other relevant organizations.
Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and reports, ensuring timely submission.
Document good practices and lessons learned, contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and new project proposals. 1
Supervise and provide guidance to reporting staff, ensuring effective team performance. 1
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a school diploma with seven years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and working with vulnerable groups, including migrants and refugees. Experience in international humanitarian organizations is advantageous, as is knowledge of protection, counter-trafficking, and community-based assistance services.
Educational Background: A school diploma with seven years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited academic institution is required. The educational institution must be recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in liaising with governmental authorities and working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees. Experience in international humanitarian organizations, as well as in protection and community-based services, is highly desirable. The ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain attention to detail is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Turkish, both oral and written, is mandatory. A working knowledge of languages spoken by migrants in Turkey is desirable. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Turkey will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations.
