Job Overview: The Director, People and Culture (DP&C) is a pivotal role within the World Wildlife Fund, responsible for leading the People and Culture Business Partners (PCBP) team. This position is crucial for setting the strategic direction and ensuring operational efficiency within the team. The Director will work closely with the Senior Director of People and Culture to advance key strategic initiatives and foster collaboration across various departments. The role requires a strong focus on team engagement and the ability to manage high-profile internal clients effectively. The Director will also be responsible for integrating the PCBP function with other People and Culture teams and external stakeholders, ensuring that the organization’s goals are met through effective people management practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director will lead the PCBP team by developing and implementing a strategic plan that aligns with the overall goals of the People and Culture department. This includes monitoring team performance, gathering feedback from department leaders, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Director will oversee communication and workflow efficiency between the PCBP team and other departments, ensuring that all processes are streamlined and effective. Additionally, the Director will manage employee relations by developing a strategic plan for the Employee Relations function, providing training and guidance to the PCBP team, and handling sensitive employee relations cases as necessary. The role also involves serving as the PCBP for high-profile internal clients, working on integration projects, and performing additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in People & Culture or Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a Business Partner role that includes direct responsibility for managing Employee Relations cases. A proven track record of building strong relationships with senior management and stakeholders is essential, as is experience in managing teams and leading People & Culture functions. Familiarity with medium-to-large organizations (250+ employees) is preferred. Strong people management skills, including talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention, are critical. Excellent project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment are also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HRIS software is necessary, while knowledge of Workday is a plus.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or professional certification in Human Resources (such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is highly desirable and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for this role.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in People & Culture, particularly in roles that require strategic thinking and emotional intelligence. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is expected, with a strong emphasis on managing diverse client portfolios and leading teams effectively. Experience in handling complex employee relations cases and fostering a culture of inclusion is also crucial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong written and verbal communication skills required. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in regions where WWF operates, but are not mandatory for this position.
Additional Notes: This is a regular, full-time position based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work model. The salary range for this position is between $124,200 and $178,600, depending on experience and qualifications.
