Job Overview: The Operations Consultant SupportIntern position is designed for innovative and results-driven individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in supporting data collection projects. The intern will work closely with the Country Economist and the Operations Team at the Bahamas Country Office, specifically on a project titled 'Carving a Path Towards Impact: Key Factors for Effective Execution in the Bahamas.' This role involves engaging in various data collection activities, managing data, assisting in preliminary data analysis, and contributing to reporting and documentation efforts. The intern will have the opportunity to develop skills in data management, analysis, and project coordination while contributing to meaningful work that impacts the community.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting interviews and focus groups, scheduling sessions, preparing interview guides, and taking notes during discussions. They will also manage data entry and cleaning, ensuring that collected data is accurately entered into databases or spreadsheets and that any errors or inconsistencies are corrected. The intern will organize and securely store data, create a logical file structure, label datasets appropriately, and back up data to prevent loss. Additionally, they will assist in preliminary data analysis, which may involve generating descriptive statistics, visualizing data, and identifying patterns and trends. The intern will contribute to drafting reports and documentation for the project, summarizing findings, creating charts and graphs, and ensuring that reports are well-structured and coherent. They will also assist in preparing presentation materials, coordinating meetings, maintaining project documentation, and following up on action items.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be active students at either the undergraduate or graduate level in fields such as Economics, Finance, Business Management, Data Science, Data Analytics, or other relevant disciplines. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in one of the other Bank's official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is preferred. Additionally, candidates must be citizens of The Bahamas or citizens of one of the 48-member countries with residency or a legal permit to work in The Bahamas. It is also required that candidates do not have any family members working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouses.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in relevant fields such as Economics, Finance, Business Management, Data Science, or Data Analytics.
