Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator position at FHI 360 is crucial for leading programmatic and operational efforts in the Hargelle Field Office of the Somali region in Ethiopia. This role encompasses overall leadership in planning, executing, and coordinating the efforts of team members and stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with established plans. The Field Coordinator is tasked with managing project objectives, overseeing quality control throughout the project lifecycle, and creating work plans that reflect project goals. The position requires implementing evidence-based interventions across multiple sectors and collaborating with various teams to develop integrated work plans and budgets essential for project success. Additionally, the Field Coordinator is responsible for ensuring financial, administrative, and logistical efficiency while maintaining compliance with FHI 360's policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator will manage and oversee the development of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that all operational expenditures and activities align with the project’s work plan and budget. Key responsibilities include guiding day-to-day project activities with a focus on logistics, finance, and administrative operations, coordinating provincial and regional field presence, and managing capacity building for project staff. The Field Coordinator will provide guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities while fostering effective teamwork. They will develop best practices and tools for project execution, define project scope and deliverables, and deliver project plans, documentation, training, presentations, and budget proposals to management and staff. The role also involves identifying and resolving project issues, implementing improvement plans, coaching and mentoring project teams, and building partnerships vital to project success.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Field Coordinator position must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or other advanced qualifications are preferred, along with certification in project management. The role typically requires at least 5 to 8 years of experience in a programmatic environment, including field experience and a minimum of three years working with USAID/BHA rules and regulations. Knowledge of financial and contractual management of USAID/BHA contracts and cooperative agreements is essential, as is experience in establishing startup operations/projects in new countries. Prior work experience in an NGO, government agency, or private company with progressive program management experience in humanitarian assistance or related fields is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in relevant fields such as International Development, Social Sciences, or Business Management. A Master’s degree or advanced qualifications are preferred, and certification in project management is also advantageous.

Experience:
The Field Coordinator role necessitates a significant level of experience, typically requiring at least 5 to 8 years in a programmatic environment, with field experience and at least three years specifically related to USAID/BHA rules and regulations. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects in humanitarian assistance or related sectors, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex operational environments effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with proficiency in Somali and Amharic also required. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as the role involves interaction with diverse staff and clients, necessitating the ability to communicate effectively in both group settings and one-on-one interactions.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and involves significant responsibilities in managing humanitarian projects. The Field Coordinator will report to the Crisis Response Coordinator in Ethiopia and will be expected to lead by managing other managers or direct reports in the region. The role includes responsibilities for hiring and terminating project staff in coordination with senior management.
