This project is part of a broader initiative supported by the Embassy of Switzerland, aimed at enhancing reintegration support systems for returnee migrants. The consultant's work will ensure that the translated materials are accessible and understandable for Bangla-speaking stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and field practitioners. The translation will facilitate capacity-building training and program implementation, thereby contributing to the overall goal of improving the reintegration process for migrant children and families. The consultant will be expected to maintain the original meaning and tone of the documents while ensuring high linguistic accuracy and cultural sensitivity in the translation process.

Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess at least 2-3 years of professional translation experience, preferably with NGOs, INGOs, or UN agencies. They should have sector-specific knowledge, particularly in translating materials related to migration, reintegration, human rights, or social protection. Experience in handling various types of documents, such as training manuals, reports, legal texts, case studies, and official communications, is essential. The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, particularly regarding linguistic and cultural nuances, grammar, and formatting consistency. A proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality is also required.
Educational Background: While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in translation, linguistics, or a related field would be beneficial. The candidate should have a strong command of both English and Bangla, with proficiency evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional translation experience, ideally in contexts related to migration, human rights, or social protection. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs will be considered an advantage, as will familiarity with the specific challenges faced by returnee migrants and their families.
Languages: Proficiency in both Bengali and English is mandatory for this position. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, but proficiency in these languages is not required for this role. The selection process will specifically evaluate the candidates' language skills, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure they meet the necessary standards for translation accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to last approximately one month, with specific deliverables due by 10 July 2025 for the draft version and by 20 July 2025 for the final version. Payment will be calculated on a per-word basis, based on the total word count of the approved Bangla version of the module and related materials. Candidates should submit a technical proposal detailing their methodology, a financial proposal listing all associated costs, and a CV highlighting relevant experience.
