Job Overview:
The Communications Consultant position is designed to produce well-researched and compelling written materials that effectively communicate the work and impact of the UN Office for Partnerships to both internal and external audiences. The role is pivotal in supporting the UN Partnerships' initiatives, particularly in the context of the Decade of Action aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The consultant will work closely with the Chief of Service and other team members, contributing to the development of strategic communications that enhance the visibility and understanding of UN Partnerships' efforts. The expected duration of the contract is 4-5 months, starting in July 2025, during which the consultant will engage in various communication activities, including drafting articles, creating content for social media, and producing promotional materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Communications Consultant include collaborating with team members to draft and edit a variety of information materials such as statements, media kits, web content, and articles for publication. The consultant will provide strategic inputs for planning documents related to communications and branding, support the launch of new initiatives by creating engaging stories and content, and assist in the production of campaign reports and promotional materials. Additionally, the consultant will develop articles and blog posts that highlight key partnerships and initiatives, draft reports on meetings and events, prepare outreach materials, and ensure that all content adheres to UN editorial guidelines. The role also involves liaising with program staff to gather necessary content and ensuring that all communications are tailored to the relevant audiences, including Member States, partners, and civil society.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field. In cases where a Master's degree is not held, a first-level degree combined with additional qualifying experience is acceptable. A minimum of 7 years of experience in communications, report writing, and content creation is required, along with a proven ability to produce engaging content on complex topics for diverse audiences. Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as communications, journalism, or international relations. Candidates with a first-level degree may be considered if they have additional qualifying experience that compensates for the lack of a Master's degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in communications, report writing, and content writing. Candidates should have a strong track record of producing engaging content that effectively communicates complex topics to a variety of audiences, demonstrating both creativity and clarity in their writing.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
