Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is dedicated to contributing to peace and development through volunteerism on a global scale. UNV has a robust Human Resources Section that provides comprehensive HR services to its workforce, ensuring that volunteers are well-supported and integrated into development programming.

Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role within the Capacity Development Team (CDT) of the Human Resources Section, focusing on the design and implementation of learning programs for UN Volunteers. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including Regional Offices and Field Units, to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities. The intern will assist in the administration and logistics of global workshops, ensuring that all events are well-coordinated and that learning materials are prepared and disseminated effectively. The role also includes supporting communication efforts to promote UNV learning initiatives and analyzing data to evaluate the impact of these programs. Overall, the intern will gain valuable insights into the workings of the UNV program and contribute to enhancing the learning experiences of volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Capacity Development Team, Regional Offices, and Field Units to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of global workshops, managing enrolments, facilitator scheduling, and logistical arrangements.
  • Provide technical support during virtual events and ensure timely preparation and dissemination of learning materials.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, managing participant lists, and preparing event summaries.
  • Support content curation and design of promotional materials to increase awareness of UNV learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and partners to develop communication materials that highlight contributions and outcomes of learning initiatives.
  • Implement tracking systems to monitor the reach and outcomes of learning initiatives and communication campaigns.
  • Follow up on learning evaluation processes, ensuring timely data collection and centralization.
  • Analyze feedback and evaluation results to generate detailed reports and provide data-driven recommendations for improvements. 1
  • Update and maintain accurate information on the UNV eCampus platform, ensuring accessibility and relevance of learning resources.

Required Qualifications:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, ensuring deliverables are prioritized and deadlines are met.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities, fostering a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in office software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Forms, SharePoint).
  • Knowledge and proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Solid knowledge in social media and digital media trends and best practices.

Educational Background:
Desired educational qualifications include a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, International Development, or a related field. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (master’s or higher).
  • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Experience:
The position requires experience in creating and disseminating communication materials, managing social media accounts, or supporting communication campaigns. Additionally, experience in organizing events, workshops, or webinars, including logistics planning and participant engagement, is essential. Candidates should have conducted research on global trends or best practices and prepared actionable reports based on data analysis. Proficiency in using tools like Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration platforms is also necessary. Experience working in diverse cultural settings, including international or volunteer-based environments, is highly valued.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is required, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms. Knowledge of one or more of the other five official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is highly desirable.

Additional Notes:
The internship will provide a monthly stipend in accordance with UNDP Internship policy. Interns are responsible for their own medical and life insurance, and all expenses related to the internship will be borne by the intern or sponsoring institution. The internship is designed to complement the intern's studies and does not guarantee further employment within the UN System. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and those selected for an interview must submit specific documents, including a letter from their university confirming enrollment and graduation date, a copy of their school transcript, and a letter of recommendation from a professor. Interns will be entitled to a monthly stipend based on the existing UNDP rate.
