Job Overview: The Data Analyst position is a consultancy role that requires providing technical leadership and oversight in managing, cleaning, and analyzing data collected during the Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) assessment across selected states in Nigeria. The consultant will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the dataset, which is crucial for producing high-quality analytical reports and evidence-based recommendations. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for leading the development of an electronic data collection system using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) tools, which includes scripting questionnaires with built-in validation checks and skip logic. They will review and refine training materials, facilitate training sessions for data collectors, and ensure technical readiness for data collection. Daily oversight of incoming data during fieldwork is essential, including real-time validation and troubleshooting. The consultant will coordinate with field teams to monitor data collection activities, ensuring adherence to sampling plans and data quality standards. They will also review and validate data capture processes, develop and implement data cleaning protocols, and conduct iterative data cleaning to prepare datasets for analysis. The consultant will analyze state-specific datasets, generate statistical outputs, and collaborate with report writing consultants to provide necessary findings for technical reports. Additional duties may be assigned by the Country Representative or Deputy Representative as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Post-Graduate University Degree in Statistics, Demography, Computer Science, or a related field, with substantial experience in database management. A minimum of three years of professional experience is required, along with strong technical knowledge in mobile data collection technologies and applications. Familiarity with health facility assessment surveys is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, statistical packages such as STATA, and geo-spatial packages (GIS) is essential. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in conducting reproducible and well-documented data analysis, including data cleaning, management, statistical modeling, and automation of analytical workflows.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Post-Graduate University Degree in Statistics, Demography, Computer Science, or a related field. This advanced degree should be complemented by relevant experience in database management and data analysis, particularly in the context of health assessments and statistical reporting.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of professional experience in data analysis and management, particularly in mobile data collection technologies. Additional Notes: This consultancy assignment is full-time and is expected to last for two months. It is specifically open to Nigerian Nationals only.
