Job Overview: The Information Management Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA Nigeria's humanitarian program and inter-agency coordination in information management. This position requires a proactive individual who can engage in data collection and management, ensuring that information on gender-based violence (GBV) is effectively analyzed and utilized throughout the humanitarian program cycle. The associate will be responsible for consolidating assessments, conducting participatory analyses, and mapping institutional response capacities. Additionally, the role involves training partner organizations on GBV reporting tools and developing information products that communicate key findings to stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with various GBV actors to enhance the effectiveness of the program and ensure that data-driven decisions are made to address GBV issues in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Associate will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Engaging in robust analyses of secondary data related to GBV trends and patterns.
Consolidating existing assessments and conducting new assessments to determine the scope of GBV.
Mapping current institutional response capacities and facilitating the development of standardized reporting forms.
Training partner organizations on the use of GBV reporting tools and ensuring adherence to guiding principles for working with survivors.
Documenting best practices and preparing analytical reports on emerging GBV issues.
Producing and updating information products such as reports, charts, and presentations for various stakeholders.
Ensuring effective communication and coordination among GBV partners and maintaining databases for knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in information/data science, statistics, GIS, demography, economics, social sciences, ICT, communication, development studies, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant post-graduation working experience in information management within the humanitarian sector. Professional experience with GBV or protection in emergencies is essential, along with familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques. Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Excel and data visualization software, are required. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise resources for decision-making.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as information/data science, statistics, GIS, demography, economics, social sciences, ICT, communication, or development studies is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a solid understanding of information management principles and practices, particularly in the context of humanitarian operations.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in information management, particularly within the humanitarian sector. Candidates should have professional experience in conducting secondary data reviews, gap analysis, and reporting. Familiarity with GBV programming and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practices is highly desirable. Experience in developing and facilitating workshops, as well as managing databases and information systems, is also important.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Hausa is considered an asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners in the region.
Additional Notes: This consultancy assignment is full-time and will last for a duration of 6 months. It is specifically open to Nigerian nationals. The successful candidate will be provided with a working space and office equipment, and travel and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) related expenses will be covered.
