Job Overview: The National Consultant for Gender Profile Dashboard will play a crucial role in collecting and compiling relevant information to develop a district-wise pre-crisis gender profile, dashboard, and database for 25 districts in Bangladesh. This position is vital for addressing gender inequality in humanitarian situations, particularly in a country that is highly vulnerable to natural disasters. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the UN Women Programme Specialist and will collaborate with UNOCHA and other stakeholders to extract existing data and consolidate information. The consultant's work will support evidence-based decision-making by providing essential disaggregated data on various demographic factors, which will aid in the effective planning and implementation of gender-responsive humanitarian interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a kick-off meeting with the UN Women DRR-CC-HA team and UNOCHA to orient on the scope and background of the assignment.
Undertake desk research to identify authentic data sources beyond the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Extract data from BBS survey reports and census data.
Populate the database created by UNOCHA for UN Women according to the data requirements specified by the UNOCHA technical team.
Support the UNOCHA technical team and UN Women in validating the database to ensure data quality.
Provide technical support in uploading the database onto the dashboard under the guidance of the UNOCHA team.
Deliver expected outputs and deliverables, including a listing of data sources beyond BBS, evidence of data extraction, and a populated database and dashboard.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or a related field is required, combined with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a comprehensive knowledge of data analysis and statistical interpretation.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, along with proficiency in the use of office IT applications and the internet for conducting research.
Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards in professional conduct.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively analyze and interpret data, which is crucial for developing the gender profile dashboard and database.
Experience: The position requires at least 1 year of proven experience in data entry, along with a sound understanding of data collection methodologies, data analysis, and data quality assurance. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the consultant can effectively manage the data extraction and compilation processes, as well as validate the quality of the data collected.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position. This proficiency is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the preparation of reports and documentation related to the consultancy work. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

The total estimated number of working days for the consultant is 40, with specific deliverables outlined for each phase of the project. Payment for services will be made upon the successful completion of deliverables, with 60% of the total contract amount paid upon submission of the first two deliverables and 40% upon submission of the final deliverable. The consultancy recruitment process will adhere to the rules and regulations of UN Women, and selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
