Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer for Digital and AI Skilling will play a crucial role in supporting the Regional Centre of Competence for Digital and AI Skilling of Public Servants, which is a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing digital competencies across African governments. This position involves producing high-quality multimedia content to promote training programs, communicate impact, and engage the public sector. The volunteer will work closely with the UNDP Project Manager and various teams to ensure that the content produced is engaging, user-friendly, and aligns with the Centre’s branding and accessibility standards. The role is integral to the Centre's training programs and implementation phase, contributing to the overall goal of fostering innovation and accelerating the adoption of digital technologies for improved service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake several key tasks, including:
  • Producing short videos, voice-over content, and multimedia clips based on materials developed by the government’s technical team.
  • Editing and packaging interviews, testimonials, and training highlights for dissemination across social media, WhatsApp, and other digital platforms.
  • Adapting technical and programmatic content into engaging, user-friendly multimedia formats to enhance awareness, outreach, and participation in digital skilling programs.
  • Ensuring all content aligns with the Centre’s branding and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborating closely with communications, design, and training teams to ensure timely delivery and relevance of multimedia materials. Additionally, the volunteer is expected to strengthen their knowledge of volunteerism, participate in UNV activities, contribute articles for UNV publications, assist with the UNV Buddy Programme, and promote online volunteering.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong multimedia production skills, including video editing and content creation. They should have a good understanding of digital communication strategies and be able to adapt complex information into accessible formats. Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in producing engaging content for diverse audiences are essential. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively is also required. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values of volunteerism and the mission of UNDP.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, media studies, digital media, or a related field is preferred. A strong portfolio showcasing previous work in multimedia content creation is highly desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in multimedia production, including video editing, content creation, and social media management. Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Kiswahili or other local languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities.
