Job Overview: The Youth and Gender Programme Analyst position is crucial for the effective management of UNFPA activities within the Gender and Youth Unit at the Country Office in Kyiv. The Analyst will work under the supervision of the head of the Gender and Youth unit and will collaborate across all Country Office units to ensure that gender and youth issues are integrated into UNFPA programs. This role involves analyzing and assessing political, social, and economic trends to provide substantive inputs for country program implementation, joint programming initiatives, and national development frameworks. The Analyst will play a key role in developing the youth and gender components of the country programme and projects, monitoring results achieved during implementation, and applying appropriate UNFPA systems and procedures. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention, as well as keeping abreast of new gender and youth policy developments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Youth and Gender Programme Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: ensuring the quality of programme/project design by incorporating lessons learned and best practices; analyzing the political, social, and economic environment relevant to gender and youth; preparing briefs and inputs for policy dialogue and technical assistancecoordination; establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies and government counterparts; facilitating the timely delivery of project inputs; documenting and sharing knowledge about gender and youth issues; supporting the review and development of national policies and strategies related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health; and assisting the Ministry of Youth Affairs with the implementation of the National Youth Service programme. The Analyst will also be expected to contribute to the inclusion of comprehensive sexuality education in the formal school curriculum, ensuring it is age-appropriate and culturally relevant.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree in Public Health, Sociology, Public Administration, or related fields. Additionally, two years of relevant experience in youth and gender programming is required. A strong understanding of gender, human rights, and women’s rights is essential, along with demonstrated interest or experience in youth empowerment, civic engagement, local governance, and project management. Good interpersonal, networking, and communication skills, both written and oral, are necessary, as well as the ability to organize effectively and work under pressure with attention to detail.
Educational Background: The position requires an Advanced University Degree in fields such as Public Health, Sociology, Public Administration, or other related disciplines. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of gender and youth issues and for effectively contributing to the development and implementation of relevant programs and policies.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least two years of relevant experience working in youth and gender programming. This experience should include a solid understanding of gender issues, human rights, and women's rights, as well as practical involvement in youth empowerment and civic engagement initiatives. Previous experience in project management and monitoring and evaluation is also highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is strong communication skills in both English and Ukrainian to effectively engage with stakeholders and contribute to program implementation.
