Job Overview: The Programme Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the planning and management of UNFPA's country programme, specifically focusing on the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programme. This position involves managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation, and following up on recommendations. The Programme Associate will report directly to the GBV Programme Manager and will be instrumental in facilitating the implementation of GBV prevention and response initiatives, as well as cross-thematic areas such as the integration of GBV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH). The role requires the application of established systems and procedures to assist in knowledge creation by compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing relevant information, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures, and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems to enhance programme effectiveness. The Programme Associate will also be responsible for fostering communication and information exchange between implementing partners and programme staff, ensuring that all activities align with UNFPA policies and the agreed annual work plan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: facilitating communication and information sharing between implementing partners (IPs) and programme staff regarding GBV interventions; reviewing and processing advance requests from IPs in collaboration with the Finance Unit; ensuring timely payments to IPs; managing the programme and office filing and archiving systems; supporting the evaluation of programme activities and recommending corrective actions; conducting field visits and participating in review meetings; coordinating project inputs and ensuring national counterparts' participation in training activities; providing logistical support for project-related meetings, workshops, and events; training project personnel on national execution and programme policies; assisting in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts; implementing knowledge management strategies; gathering and compiling data for document preparation; creating briefing materials and presentations; and performing any other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed Bachelor Degree in a relevant field. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required, particularly in providing general support related to information management, research, basic financial and program monitoring, and administration. Previous experience in the UN system is considered an advantage. Candidates should have a strong understanding of program and project management processes, especially in the context of GBV project management. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed Bachelor Degree in a relevant field. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of program management and the specific challenges associated with GBV initiatives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, particularly in roles that involve providing general support on information management, research, basic financial and program monitoring, and administration.
