Job Overview: The Communications Officer position at GPE is a critical role focused on planning, developing, and implementing effective communications and outreach campaigns. The successful candidate will report to the Communications Lead and will be instrumental in supporting the GPE 2030 replenishment campaign, which is set to launch in the third quarter of 202
This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in campaign communications, project management, and interpersonal skills. The Communications Officer will work closely with various teams within the GPE Secretariat and partner organizations to create compelling content tailored to priority donor markets. The position emphasizes the importance of engaging diverse audiences, including political, technical, and public stakeholders, through effective messaging and multimedia products. The Communications Officer will also be responsible for aligning digital outputs with in-person activities and ensuring that all communications efforts contribute to GPE's overarching mission of transforming education systems globally.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Collaborating with colleagues across the GPE Secretariat and partner organizations to develop engaging campaign content, including web and social media copy, briefing materials, and multimedia products.
Liaising with designers and video editors to ensure timely delivery of visually appealing content that aligns with GPE's branding and strategic objectives.
Working with the donor team to create national-level replenishment communications strategies in key donor markets, localizing the global campaign as needed.
Supporting the planning and creation of social-first content for the GPE financing campaign, including content linked to national events and donor milestones.
Assisting with the communications components of key replenishment-related events, ensuring alignment between digital and in-person activities.
Drafting and publishing content for the GPE website in both English and French, including campaign blogs and news releases.
Participating in internal team meetings and donor coordination calls to align on campaign objectives and track visibility efforts in donor countries.
Monitoring media and political developments to identify creative opportunities for campaign content that enhances visibility in donor markets.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Communications Officer position should possess the following qualifications:
A Master's degree in a relevant field of study.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in digital communications, including developing campaign messaging and overseeing branded content materials.
Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible content.
Demonstrable knowledge of digital platforms and effective content strategies for engaging diverse audiences.
Proficiency in using metrics and analytics to inform content creation and delivery.
Familiarity with web production tools (HTML, Drupal), design programs (Canva, Adobe), and social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout).
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as communications, public relations, international relations, or a related discipline. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of global education issues and the communication strategies required to address them effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, particularly in digital communications and campaign management. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing and executing successful outreach and advocacy campaigns, as well as experience in producing high-quality content across various media formats. Experience in managing editorial calendars and coordinating translations is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position, as the Communications Officer will be responsible for drafting and publishing content in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a one-year appointment, renewable at the discretion of the World Bank Group, with a maximum duration of three years for ET appointments.
