Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Safeguards Analyst will be responsible for providing expert technical advice on uranium enrichment technologies and related nuclear proliferation issues. Key duties include performing complex calculations and analyses related to gas centrifuge operations, developing evaluation methodologies for detecting undeclared activities, and preparing technical reports that contribute to State Evaluation Reports. The analyst will also engage in continuous collection and analysis of open-source information regarding States' nuclear activities, assist inspectors in planning field activities, and maintain collaborative relationships with operational partners. Additionally, the role involves training and guiding other staff in the analysis of technological information pertinent to the nuclear fuel cycle and contributing to the development of safeguards approaches and training programs across the department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, material science, or a related technical field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in one of these fields, combined with two years of additional relevant experience, may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant technical and operational experience in uranium enrichment programs, with a proven track record as a subject matter expert in uranium enrichment research and development. Candidates should have experience handling sensitive technical information and dealing with issues at the State level, as well as training or qualifications relevant to nuclear non-proliferation.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree (Master's Degree) in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, material science, or a closely related technical field associated with nuclear technology. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's Degree) in one of the stipulated fields, along with two years of additional relevant experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. This educational background is essential for understanding the complex technical aspects of nuclear safeguards and proliferation issues.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant technical and operational experience specifically within uranium enrichment programs. This experience should encompass practical knowledge of uranium enrichment research and development, as well as the commissioning and operation of pilot and/or industrial-scale uranium enrichment facilities. Candidates should also demonstrate proven experience in managing sensitive technical information and navigating issues at the State level, which is critical for the role's responsibilities.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile, particularly in a diverse international environment.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $101,540, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, a pension plan, and health insurance.
