The Nuclear Data Section (NDS) operates under the Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences within the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications of the IAEA. Job Overview:
The Nuclear Data Analyst plays a crucial role within the Atomic and Molecular Data Unit, focusing on the development of nuclear and atomic data software and the management of relational databases. This position involves updating the Section's software and providing technical assistance to Member States to facilitate the peaceful use of fission and fusion energy technologies. The analyst is responsible for innovating methods for data access and presentation on the Section's website, ensuring that the data is user-friendly and accessible. The role requires adopting modern, open-source data technologies and involves significant contributions to the visualization of nuclear structure and radioactive decay data, which are essential for various applications in nuclear science.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nuclear Data Analyst is expected to provide technical input for the planning, development, and implementation of the IAEA Nuclear Data programme across various applications, including fission, fusion, medical, and analytical methods. Key responsibilities include developing innovative software and database designs tailored to user needs, utilizing programming languages such as SQL, noSQL, Java, and Python for data retrieval and web applications. The analyst will also maintain major nuclear databases, ensuring they are regularly updated and accessible. Additional duties involve creating user-friendly interfaces for data visualization and analysis, improving the IAEA Nuclear and Atomic Data Services based on user feedback, and conceptualizing modern interfaces for existing databases.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or an advanced university degree in Computer Science, nuclear data, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in programming languages, particularly JAVA and SQL, and database management systems (DBMS) is required. Experience in a scientific environment is essential, with at least two years of relevant experience in an international context being desirable. Familiarity with nuclear reactions or nuclear structure is advantageous, as is experience in database design and interface development. Candidates should also have experience working in a decentralized IT development environment and across organizational boundaries.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Master's Degree or an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, nuclear data, or a closely related discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the Nuclear Data Analyst effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in utilizing various programming languages, specifically JAVA and SQL, along with substantial experience in database management systems. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in scientific environments, with at least two years of experience in an international setting being highly desirable. Experience in database design and interface development is also crucial for this role, as well as familiarity with nuclear reactions or nuclear structure.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, which includes a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $70,212, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additionally, a variable post adjustment currently amounts to US $36,580, along with dependency benefits, rental subsidies, education grants, and relocation and repatriation expenses. Employees are entitled to six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, a pension plan, and health insurance.
