Job Overview: The Civil Peace Service (CPS) program is designed for violence prevention and peacebuilding in areas affected by conflict. In the Palestinian Territories, the CPS program works closely with civil society organizations to create safe environments for young Palestinians. These spaces are intended to promote appreciation, positive interactions, and self-determination among youth. The CPS Advisor for Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support will play a crucial role in integrating psychosocial support as a key strategy for conflict transformation in Palestine. The advisor will provide guidance to various institutions on delivering qualified psychosocial support to young individuals, thereby contributing to their overall psychosocial development and well-being.
Duties and Responsibilities: The CPS Advisor will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
Further developing and contextualizing conflict-sensitive and culturally appropriate psychosocial counseling concepts for the CPS team and its partners.
Conceptualizing and facilitating training sessions for the CPS team and partners on psychosocial care and trauma-informed approaches in social work and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions.
Designing and providing regular supervision sessions, including peer reflection and case supervision, for the CPS team with the help of external consultants.
Advising the CPS team and partner organizations on identifying and assessing the psychosocial needs of youth and children.
Collaborating with CPS team members and partners on project monitoring and evaluation related to psychosocial work.
Working together with team members and partners to enhance the connection between Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MH&PSS) and conflict transformation.
Acting as the focal point and central contact person within the GIZ Palestine MHPSS Task Force, responsible for mainstreaming MHPSS across programs, promoting synergies, capacity building, and knowledge management to enhance advisory services for partners.
Documenting work processes, participating in knowledge exchange, and collaborating with colleagues within GIZ’s CPS and the CPS Consortium.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed university degree in psychology, social pedagogy, or a related social-psychological field with a focus on psychosocial support. Additionally, candidates should have several years of professional experience in psychosocial work, including experience in case supervision. Experience in designing workshops and training programs that apply psychosocial methods, particularly those focused on children and youth, is also required. Strong analytical, self-reflection, and decision-making skills are essential, along with a willingness to work in a large, intercultural team. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are necessary for success in this role.
Educational Background: The position requires a completed university degree in psychology, social pedagogy, or a related field that emphasizes psychosocial support. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of mental health and psychosocial issues, particularly in the context of conflict and crisis situations.
