Interns will support the preparation of communications and various types of documents relevant to the thematic areas indicated, contributing to the overall mission of promoting gender equality and human rights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating activities of the Gender and DESC Unit, focusing on women's rights and environmental advocacy.
Conduct research and analysis of international and national human rights standards, particularly concerning women's rights and care concepts.
Draft and review technical documents related to human rights with a gender perspective.
Support the planning and organization of women's rights activities scheduled for the second and third quarters of the year.
Monitor media and other sources for topics related to women's rights and environmental issues.
Assist in the preparation of communications and various documents relevant to the thematic areas of focus.
Collaborate with team members to ensure effective project implementation and adherence to UN principles and standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be master's students in social sciences (law, sociology, international relations, political science, or related fields) or final-year undergraduate students in similar disciplines. Knowledge of human rights, preferably concerning women's rights and/or indigenous peoples and/or DESC, is essential. Desirable experience includes compiling and analyzing international and national human rights standards and drafting technical documents in this field. Candidates should demonstrate strong research and synthesis skills, excellent spelling and writing abilities, teamwork capabilities, and the ability to assist in event management. Respect for UN principles and conduct standards is mandatory. Additionally, candidates must have some form of health insurance or a health system that covers them in Mexico City during the internship period.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be enrolled in or have completed a master's program or the final year of an undergraduate program in social sciences, including but not limited to law, sociology, international relations, and political science. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of human rights and gender issues.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some experience in compiling and analyzing human rights standards, as well as drafting technical documents. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with human rights issues, particularly those affecting women and indigenous peoples, is highly desirable. Experience in research and event organization will also be beneficial.
Languages: The official working language is Spanish, and proficiency in Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of English is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication and understanding of international documents and standards.
