Job Overview:
The position of Secretary of the Joint Board on Communication Satellite Programmes (JCB) and Management coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Support Coordinator is a pivotal role within the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications at ESA. This role involves supporting the decision-making processes at the Programme Board and managing stakeholder relationships, particularly with ESA’s Member States. The successful candidate will be expected to engage effectively with various stakeholders, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the Directorate’s programs and the broader context of satellite-based connectivity and secure communications. The role requires a proactive individual who can coordinate meetings, manage documentation, and facilitate communication between different entities within ESA and external partners. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that the Directorate's strategic objectives are met through effective management and coordination of activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the JCB Secretary, the individual will report to the Head of the Programme Planning, Strategy and Management Coordination Office. Key responsibilities include: preparing for and ensuring the smooth functioning of JCB and Advisory Committee meetings; supporting decision-making processes by consulting with Member State delegations; preparing agendas, briefings, and documentation; managing organizational matters related to meetings, including budgets and logistics; coordinating external reporting; and managing the Member States satisfaction survey. As the Management Support Coordinator, the individual will support the coordination of the Directorate’s relations with Member States and industry, oversee cooperation activities with international partners, consolidate input into ESA documents, support Council meeting preparations, and represent the Office in various forums and working groups. The role also involves implementing ad hoc tasks as requested by management and representing the Directorate in agency-level initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong stakeholder management skills, a thorough understanding of the Directorate’s programs and ESA policies, and experience with ESA’s Boards and Committees. Strong analytical and reporting skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of the core business of the Directorate and its relationships with key partners. Knowledge of Europe’s space industry and the global space economy is also required. The candidate should demonstrate result orientation, operational efficiency, and the ability to foster cooperation and manage relationships effectively.

Educational Background:
A master’s degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the candidate with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
The position requires relevant professional experience, ideally four years or more following the completion of the master’s degree. However, candidates with less experience may still be considered for a position at a lower grade level (A1).

Languages:
The working languages of ESA are English and French, and a good knowledge of one of these languages is mandatory. Knowledge of another Member State language would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse environment of ESA.
