Job Overview:
The P&O Senior Technical Officer will be based in Amman, Jordan, with responsibilities that include providing guidance and technical support to projects in the rehabilitation sector, particularly focusing on prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) services in Gaza. The officer will be expected to carry out thorough assessments of individuals with limb loss or mobility impairments, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive evaluations. The role also involves implementing quality assurance measures for prosthetic and orthotic services, monitoring patient progress, and providing education and training to patients and their caregivers. The officer will contribute to technical learning and innovation within the sector, support the development of local talent, and ensure effective coordination with external partners to enhance service delivery and advocacy efforts. Additionally, the officer will play a crucial role in emergency preparedness and response, adapting work modalities during crises to ensure effective humanitarian responses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The P&O Senior Technical Officer will have several key responsibilities: 1) Provide technical guidance and support to P&O projects, ensuring adherence to overall technical frameworks and standards. 2) Conduct thorough assessments of individuals with limb loss or mobility impairments, collaborating with healthcare professionals to gather comprehensive information. 3) Implement quality assurance measures for prosthetic and orthotic services, monitor patient progress, and document outcomes. 4) Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on the use and maintenance of prostheses and orthoses. 5) Identify logistic needs for P&O services and contribute to local and international orders. 6) Coordinate with headquarters for technical learning and evidence collection, and contribute to innovative solutions for emergency prosthesis fitting. 7) Support technical staff recruitment and training, and develop a local talent pool. 8) Coordinate with external partners to strengthen referral pathways and raise awareness of services. 9) Participate in technical coordination groups to influence the adoption of emergency and permanent prosthesis delivery. 10) Contribute to emergency preparedness actions and adapt work modalities during emergencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Prosthetics/Orthotics (P&O) Master level degree or a Bachelor of Science degree. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience is required, including at least 3 years in the P&O sector specifically in emergency responses within conflict-affected countries. Experience with temporary emergency prostheses is essential, along with training competencies and the ability to provide remote technical support and team management. A multidisciplinary team approach, stress management skills, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities are also necessary qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master level degree in Prosthetics/Orthotics or a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of prosthetic and orthotic services, particularly in emergency and conflict settings.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in the P&O sector focused on emergency responses in conflict-affected countries.   • The contract includes social coverage adapted to the mission context, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The gross monthly salary starts at €2448, with additional per diem rates for fieldwork in Jordan and Palestine. Hardship allowances are provided for work in Gaza. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year, with additional rest and recuperation days based on the location of service.
