Job Overview: The E T Consultant position at the World Bank involves working closely with various stakeholders to enhance partnerships and improve the effectiveness of aid delivery in Afghanistan. The consultant will play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with ARTF donors and UN partners, ensuring that the World Bank's operations align with the needs of the Afghan population. The role requires participation in strategic planning and the preparation of key documents that guide the Bank's operations in fragile contexts. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the development of strategies that address the complex challenges faced in Afghanistan, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the need for sustainable development solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The E T Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Strengthening relationships with ARTF donors and partners by maintaining regular communication and organizing meetings to discuss strategies and progress.
Coordinating with UN partners to enhance the effectiveness of Bank-funded operations and analytics, ensuring that aid delivery is efficient and meets the needs of the Afghan population.
Participating in the preparation of strategic documents such as Country Partnership Frameworks (CPFs), Systematic Country Diagnostics (SCDs), and other major reports that inform the Bank's operations.
Representing the World Bank at various meetings with donors and UN agencies, advocating for the Bank's initiatives and ensuring alignment with broader humanitarian efforts.
Collaborating with internal teams to monitor funding streams and contribute to the management of strategic working groups focused on aid effectiveness.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Business Studies, Political Science, Finance, or International Relations. Additionally, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in similar roles, particularly within fragile and conflict-affected contexts, is required. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of Afghanistan's aid architecture and the operational policies of the World Bank. Strong knowledge of trust fund operations, public financial management systems, and development issues in fragile states is essential. The ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate leadership skills is also crucial.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field is mandatory for this position. This educational background should ideally include studies in areas such as Economics, Business Studies, Political Science, Finance, or International Relations, which are directly relevant to the mission and operations of the World Bank.
