The Governing Bodies Servicing Division (CSG) provides essential support to the Conference and the Council, facilitating communication and protocol services, and ensuring the effective functioning of FAO's governance structures.

Job Overview:
The Governing Bodies Servicing Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Secretariat functions of the Governing Bodies of FAO. This position involves liaising with member countries, managing governance-related inquiries, and facilitating the delivery of integrated corporate services through various platforms. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that governance matters are handled efficiently and that communication with members is clear and timely. The role requires a proactive approach to support the organization’s objectives and to assist in the preparation of governance-related documents, reports, and correspondence. The consultant will also contribute to the development of training materials and assist in presenting information to management and staff, thereby enhancing the overall governance processes within FAO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities including: coordinating procedures for Governing Body and Statutory Body meetings; acting as a liaison with members to address inquiries and provide guidance on governance procedures; supporting the implementation of corporate services via the Members Gateway and the RBA Calendar; assisting in the collection and analysis of governance-related documents; preparing and disseminating formal correspondence; contributing to the development of informational and training materials; collecting and analyzing information for reports and presentations; reviewing and analyzing reports and administrative rules; supporting the efficient functioning of Governing Body meetings; and providing support to the Independent Chairperson of the Council.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, or a related field relevant to the work of the organization. Alternatively, a first-level degree combined with two years of relevant experience may be considered. For PSA Subscribers, a secondary school education is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience in fields such as Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Law, Economics, or Agriculture. A working knowledge of one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, or Russian) is mandatory, while knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or International Law. Candidates with a first-level degree and two years of relevant experience may also be considered. For PSA Subscribers, a secondary school education is necessary, indicating that a foundational level of education is essential for all applicants.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in areas such as Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Law, Economics, or Agriculture. Experience in conference management activities, particularly in an intergovernmental environment, is highly desirable. Candidates with work experience in multiple locations or areas of work, especially in field positions, will be given preference. Demonstrated ability to draft and edit documents is also crucial for this role.

Languages:
A working knowledge of one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, or Russian) is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the organization and with member states.

Additional Notes:
The candidates endorsed in the selection process will be considered for the Governing Bodies Servicing Consultants’ Roster, which supports the Secretariat Services branch for a period of three years. This roster is utilized to fill similar positions at the same or lower grade, and in the same or another duty station. The position is likely to be full-time, and candidates should be prepared for the responsibilities associated with supporting the governance functions of a major international organization.
