Job Overview:
The Senior Investment Officer (SIO) position is a critical role within the IFC’s Transaction Advisory Services Department, specifically focusing on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in the Eastern Africa sub-region. The SIO will be responsible for developing and enhancing IFC's presence in the PPP business across nine countries, including Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The role involves significant market and industry experience, with a strong emphasis on business development and execution of advisory mandates. The SIO will engage with government clients to secure new mandates and oversee the preparation of complex PPP transactions, ensuring alignment with the World Bank Group's strategies and access to necessary expertise. This position requires collaboration with various teams within the World Bank Group to address legal and regulatory frameworks and to foster strong relationships with stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Investment Officer include, but are not limited to: developing client relationships and project leads in the Eastern Africa region; conducting marketing activities in assigned countries and strategic infrastructure sectors; leading negotiations of mandates with clients; preparing and reviewing internal documentation for project approval; managing project budgets; fostering relationships with World Bank Group counterparts; understanding political and regulatory challenges to private sector participation; managing project preparation and execution; developing innovative transaction structures for PPP projects; assisting in the tendering process; participating in meetings with government clients and investors; coordinating with other IFC departments; mentoring junior team members; contributing to regional strategy development; supporting corporate finance mandates; and assisting in knowledge management initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in PPP transaction advisory, investment banking, project finance, or corporate finance is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in the Eastern Africa region. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3-4 years of experience in sell/buy-side M&A advisory, a strong understanding of infrastructure sector trends, and proven business development and client relationship skills. A track record of originating and executing infrastructure transactions, along with strong analytical and financial modeling skills, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to manage teams and possess excellent communication skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a similar relevant field. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of investment and finance in the context of public-private partnerships and infrastructure projects.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in PPP transaction advisory, investment banking, project finance, or corporate finance. Experience in the Eastern Africa region is highly desirable, along with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in sell/buy-side M&A advisory. Candidates should have a proven track record in originating, advising, structuring, and executing infrastructure transactions, demonstrating strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with proficiency in French or Portuguese considered a strong advantage. Effective communication skills in these languages will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and clients across the Eastern Africa region.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract duration of three years. The recruitment is open to international candidates, and the selected individual will be expected to travel frequently within the region.
